A Little Bit About Me
I made a commitment to myself to do something new & different with regard to my education and profession every 10 years- there is so much to see and do in this world, and I want a taste.
I was a teacher for 9 years (High school, Middle & Elementary). Loved it :) For 2 years I was also principal of the local weekend school for Muslim children. I now leverage my classroom teaching experience and my academic qualifications for my education consultancy. I provide guidance as well as academic instruction to families and institutions with a variety of educational needs.
I love history, literature, language… learning in general :)
I traveled to Syria several years ago & lived there. In that time I received an Ijaza in Tajweed, studied basic Arabic, & left with love for Sham in my heart.
I can communicate in Spanish, Urdu, & Kashmiri at a basic level.
I grew up playing sports, namely soccer, basketball, field hockey, & show jumping (an equestrian sport). I also grew up in MYNA, the MSA, & ISNA. Art & music, within the limits of our faith, are very soothing to me.
I love the burda, the voice of Raef, certain Bob Marley songs, and any number of Qasaaid. Socially conscious lyrics make me stop & listen.
Last, but certainly not the least, I have an intelligent, kind-hearted, & social son. His father and I divorced a few years ago (after circumstances I am open to talking about), & since then I was closed off to the idea of another relationship.
Now, at the encouragement of my friends, I am looking for a spouse, companion, partner, & fellow traveler on this journey of life to build a home with, have fun with, learn with, & worship with.

What I Am Looking For
I am looking for a man who is optimistic, bright eyed, & enthusiastic about the world- despite its difficulties- knowing Qadar Allahu Wa Mashaa’ Fa’ala.
An ideal match for me is a soothing, kind-hearted person who is affectionate; loving in words & action.
I am looking for a person who wants to travel, learn, work out, who wants to watch an occasional movie, enjoys sports, wants to cook together, hike, ski, loves nature, and has a fruitful profession.
I admire a person who accepts the present reality & doesn’t fight it, but if needed, makes a plan to improve it- knowing the only thing we can change is ourselves.
Like a magnet, I gravitate toward one who prays 5 times a day, fulfills the faraa’id of our faith, and exercises wisdom. The Prophetic example shows us that wisdom is nuanced, not black & white.
I'm looking for someone who is smart, funny and ambitious- a man who doesn’t take himself too seriously: Life is fun, funny, & beautiful.
